Roll Up Banners for Film Makers and Film Festivals
Everyone knows about the well known block buster film festivals such as the Canne Film Festival. But where do the small film makers go to showcase their films and how do they go about advertising the showing?
There are 1000s of small film festivals active every month around the world. Many of these film festivals don’t make headline news because the event organisers and the film directors and filming crew don’t have the capital to pay for prime advertising space in the worlds richest media.
Small film makers make their film on a budget. Actors, props and outside shooting can be very expensive – so when it comes to advertising they can only budget 2 promotion strategies.
1) Attend a few local film festivals to promote their film in the hope of it being signed by a leading film label such as Warner Brothers or 21st Century Fox
2) Promote their film showing at film festivals using low cost roller banners which can of course be re used at other festivals.
Releasing a block buster film doesn’t happen often, but it can happen. More recently, the Blair Witch Project was a low cost film that hit the right cords with dvd bosses and made it to the big screen all around the world. The film cost $20,000 – $25,000. Critics were impressed by the small feature film and it went onto gross 248 million in worldwide sales at the boxoffice. It was number 1 in many countries around the world.
…so small films made by small film creatives can make it to the big screen. But it’s important that these film makers make it to film festivals to promote their art.
